Pediatric Physical Therapy Services, PLLC

 Pia Stampe, PT, DPT Owner of PPTS has a degree in Physical Therapy from University of Copenhagen, Denmark. She has worked with children in a variety of settings for over 25 years. She founded Pediatric Physical Therapy Services, PLLC in 1998 and PPTS currently employs 18 pediatric Physical Therapists. She is NDT certified and has extensive continuing education in pediatrics including sensory integration, craniosacral therapy, seating and positioning, management of Brachial Plexus Injuries, Myofascial Release (pediatric as well as John F. Barnes MFR I, II and Unwinding), Threshold Electrical Stimulation (TES), NMES and emg triggered Electrical Stimulation.  Pia teaches with the TASC network specializing in the use of technology in treatment of children paticularly EMG-triggerd muscle stimulation and Integrated Management of Brachial Plexus Injury. Special interests include Cerebral Palsy, Brachial Plexus Injuries and Infant Motor Development. She is on several local evaluation teams for Early Intervention.

 

Ann Ernst, MS, PT graduated from Ithaca College and has 7years experience working in pediatrics. She also worked with adults for part of that time. Ann enjoys the unique experience of working with young children and families in their own homes. Through Early Intervention Ann is providing therapy in community settings. Aquatic physical therapy, and pediatric orthopedics are areas on interest for Ann. She is a certified aquatic physical therapist.

Annette Willgens, MS, PT has a degree in Physical Therapy and a master's degree in developmental disabilities from NYU.  She has been serving children and families in Early Intervention and Preschool Special Education Programs for 17 years.  She is a certified hippotherapist and is developing a program with the Equicenter, Inc. (therapeutic horsebackriding) for children over age 2.  Annette is an Assistant Professor at Nazareth College Physical Therapy Program.

 

Kathleen Buccieri, PT, DPT, MS, PCS earned her physical therapy degree at Ithaca College and her Doctor of Physical Therapy from MGH Institute of Health Professions. She has clinical experience in adult and pediatric inpatient, outpatient, rehabilitation, and home care settings. Ms. Buccieri has enjoyed administrative, management and marketing opportunities in her career. Kathy graduated Magna Cum Laud from Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions with her Masters of Science degree in 2000. Kathy has been a pediatric physical therapist specializing in early intervention and preschool programs for 20 years and  earned her APTA Board Certification as a Pediatric Specialist in April 1999. Infant Massage, foot orthotics and pediatric taping techniques augment Kathy’s hands on practice.

 

Kristen Miskey, MS, PT graduated from Ithaca College with a masters degree in Physical Therapy in 1997.  Kristen has worked in a variety of setting including inpatient rehabilitation, NICU step down unit, and many years in the home care setting.  All of her experience has focused on pediatric patients.  Kristen is DIR trained, MOVE curriculum certified, and has attended many continuing education courses.  Some of the techniques that she uses are NDT, motor learning, myofascial release, and sensory integration training.  Kristen also is the proud mother of a three year old girl and a baby boy.

 

Kristie Karelus, MS, PT graduated from D'Youville College. Kriste has several years of work experience which includes working with developmentally disabled adults, and children of all ages including Early Intervention (0-3 y.o.), Preschool (3-5 y.o.) and school age (ages 5 and up).  She has had the opportunity to work in a variety of settings including a clinical settings, schools, homes, daycares, as well as other community settings that can be used to challenge the children she works with. Kristie finds work with children with neurological challenges very interesting and rewarding. She is the proud mother of three young children.

 

Danielle Hyde, PT has a degree in physical therapy from Russell Sage College and many years of pediatric experience.  Her special interests include neurological function and rehabilitation, positioning and adaptive equipment, functional use of orthoses, and (of course) pediatrics.  She started working in pediatrics out of college in Binghamton, NY at an evaluation and treatment facility.  She then moved on to Children's Specialized Hospital in New Jersey for 5 years where she participated in Early Intervention, Preschool, and a neuro-rehabilitation program for children birth to age 18.  Danille started in Rochester with PPTS in October 2003 and is happy to be back in her home town.

Christine DeLucia, PT graduated from the University of Vermont’s Physical Therapy Program in 1987. She has work experience in acute care hospital settings, sports medicine, home care and pediatric physical therapy. She has attended many continuing education courses including, Ball Therapy Techniques, Therapeutic Seating Courses, Orthotic Courses and Myofascial Release. She has found working with children to be the most fulfilling and rewarding experience of all and enjoys doing so while raising her own 3 children.

Kim Nolan, PT has 7 years pediatric experience with ages birth through 21 working full time at Mary Careola Children's Center specializing in preschool and early intervention. She has 5 years experience in evaluating young children. Kim has participated in multiple continuing education courses in pediatric Physical Therapy.

Mary P. Thaney, PT, MPT graduated from Walsh University in Canton, OH with a bachelor of science degree in Biology with honors. She then received her Master’s degree in Physical Therapy from Andrews University in Dayton, OH. She has always had a special interest in pediatrics as she completed her graduate research “The effects of yoga postures on balance, coordination and flexibility in typically developing children”. Mary has worked with children in early intervention, preschool, and school age in a variety of settings.

Janet Rosenberg, PT graduated from Russel Sage College and she has many years of pediatric experience as well as experience with adult neurological rehabilitation. Janet joined PPTS in 1998 and she has a special interest in working with children with Autism. She is DIR trained and has participated in extensive continuing education within pediatrics.  

Amy Pete, PT is a graduate of Ithaca College. Amy has extensive pediatric experience from a variety of settings including hopital, outpatient clinic, Early Intervention and Preschool Special Education. Amy is a certified Infant Massage Instructor and she uses those skills in her daily work with special needs infants. She has participated in extensive pediatric continuing education including Myofascial Release and Taping. Amy is particularly interested in infant motor development as well as development of children with Down Syndrome. 

Tricia Umiker PT has worked exclusively in pediatrics since graduating in 1997. She has worked in a variety of settings with children of all ages. Tricia joined PPTS in 2001 and has enjoyed gained extensive experience with infants and young children. Tricia is trained in Craniosacral Therapy which she uses in her daily practice. She is the proud mother of two-year old twins.

Melissa Ziegler, PT graduated from Boston University and has spent most of her carrier working with children. She joined PPTS in 2002 and enjoys working with young children. Melissa has a broad interests in pediatrics which she has solidified through extensive continuing education.

Nicole Vitale, PT graduated from Russel Sage College and she worked with adults with traumatic brain injuried before joining PPTS in 1999. Nicole has a special interest in working with children with neurological diagnoses using treatment techniques such as NDT. She is the proud mother of four young children.

Susan Hewitt, PT has worked with children in a variety of settings. She worked several years with younger and older children with significant disabilities within a classroom setting. Susan joined PPTS in 2004 and she enjoys working with young children. She has a special interest in rehabilitation of Brachial Plexus Injuries. She is the proud mother of four young children.

Becky Orisini, PT joined PPTS in 2006 and she works almost exclusively with the children who attend the classess of the Communication Center for Hearing and Speech. Becky has many years of broad experience as a PT  including working with multi-handicapped children and working in a hospital setting.
